The start of something new

Friday 27 August 2010

So here's my first post, I don't know how well it's going to be but my friend Alex inspired me to make one and I think it can be pretty interesting.

After thinking it carefully I decided to make one of the most important decision in my life which I had been thinking for a long time, probably since I was a little girl. When I went to restaurants I always told my parents that in the future I wanted to become a waitress, I always liked the atmosphere of the restaurants. My passion for food grew stronger over the years and moving around the world discovering new cultures of food probably increased this interest. I have to also mention that both my grandmas made delicious food and that one can always learn from them.

So here I am in Santiago, Chile studying culinary arts, to say it in a posh way. Completly different career than my original one which was International Relations and Spanish but it is the one that I love. Why Chile, well that's a long story but I also wanted something new  in a country that I had never lived, I like new experiences, they bring challenges into your life. I have now been here for three weeks and I have started getting use to all the new things around me, mostly integrating to my new school and friends, not yet on things like chiliean idioms because there are too many but maybe by th eend of my three years i'll be able to understand them.

Yes, as you must have understood by now, I love cooking but what I enjoy the most is the patisserie part of the career. I hope that with the education I will receive from this school I will be able too develop my passion to a further level. It is important in your life to have goals and trying to reach them well mine is to have my own patisserie somewhere but probably in Latin America, that is after having travelled the world to work or doing workshops to get better in what I do, and maybe one day win one of this famous international competiton of pastry.

Patisserie is what I want to do, it's what deep down I have alwasy wanted to do and I know that I will make the best of my opportunities to reach what I want to do. I don't know where life will take me but I know that I will always have the support of my parents, which I have to thank them so much because without them this wouldn't have been possible.

Well this is it for my first post, hopefully there will be more to come...
